A bird sitting on a branch of a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking because her trust is not on the branch, but on its own wings.“ I had a comfortable childhood and studied upto class 10 but soon married. Unfortunately my husband has never been to school and is a daily wage earner. My mother in law had her own small house and all her 3 sons are in a manner even today dependent on their mother. I was determined to make sure both my daughters and son studied, so started getting piece cutting work from which I used to earn around 50 Rs a day. I managed our daily needs with my husband earnings and continued to educate my children with my earning. My efforts paid dividend and today my son has a job and girls continue to study. I have also been able to take a loan to rebuild our home When I joined Aasra Shiksha Samiti I felt this is an important work. Initial hesitancy was there but I quickly overcame it and after understanding myself about menstrual hygiene, my daughters and I can talk freely with the girls and women in the community. I feel it is very important to bring about awareness in the community and change our way of thinking about Menstruation ”
